I have always liked the look of portraits lighted with a softbox but so far I have only worked with umbrellas. They are small, easy to transport and pretty versatile. The other day I came across the Westcott Apollo 28″ softbox at Henry´s. For about $150 you got the softbox and the correspondent light stand. Although I had done a view test shots at home before I really wanted to try it outside. Crazy as I am I was not only carrying around my camera and tripod when we visited the Webster´s Fall but also the lightstand, a flash and the 28″ softbox. I have to say that the softbox is very compact, light (0,9kg) and the whole set fits very nicely in an old tripod bag I had. The photograph above is one of the photos I took using my favorite lense – the Canon 85mm f/1.8. It is extremely sharp and has a very nice bokeh. So far I am very satisfied with my purchase. Be assured that I will post more photos in the future.
